I am heading toward Universal with Space Shuttle shaped rice krispie treats and other presents for delivery! I'll be meeting [livejournal.com profile] abigail89 and [livejournal.com profile] thalialunacy(NOW WITH SLEEP!) and [livejournal.com profile] starsfell and who knows who else! EEEEE!

Jun. 25th, 2010 07:44 pm
It was brought to my attention (last week) by [livejournal.com profile] abigail89 that I haven't been around the last month. SORRY.

First and foremost, I've been digesting my situation. I am okay most of the time. One of my friends' partner (a New Yorker who also happens to be a Corrections Officer) spoke really frankly to me about moving out sooner than I anticipated. She told me that I needed to be out of this house by Thanksgiving, because I needed to make new Christmas traditions. Since I was really struggling with the thought of spending Christmas here, that was something I really needed to hear. I'll be getting my storage unit next week, and sitting down with Alex, who's going to help me set my goals. Thank heaven for her.

Secondly, my mom and her friend Mary came to visit! We had a spectacular time. WE GOT TO SEE THE CRAWLER COMING DOWN THE HILL FROM PAD 39A GOING BACK TO THE VAB. I PROMISED JULIE PICTURES. I'll post them eventually. We hit Animal Kingdom and Epcot. It was so hot we really didn't get to do as much as I usually do with guests...but they had a great time, so I don't really care. Next time they come, I'll be in my new place!

Also went to Rochester for my goddaughter's second birthday. Had a great time, as well. It was nice just to be away and relax (even though a lot of the week wasn't really relaxing...).

Saw Shrek 4, Alice in Wonderland, and Toy Story 3. Fell asleep in the first two, bawled through the third. Oh, Andy.

[livejournal.com profile] thalialunacy is going to be here during Infinitus, so whether she wants to or not, she's taking me with her to meet the con folks, because I'm not missing the chance to hug [livejournal.com profile] abigail89 IRL.

IDK what else...I've been working a lot. Not working out a lot :(. I started a rewatch of The West Wing. OMGBBWHITEHOUSESTAFFERS.

My sisters will be here in July! \o/

SYTYCD...I'm finally caught up. I love that they got rid of the video wall. The lighting designer this year KILLS. I wasn't so sure about the All Stars. It does produce some great results...but we also don't have a lot of connection or awkward dances. I really don't have a favorite yet. The girls are so blah and the guys are so great. I got attached to Alex during Season 5, so I hope he continues to grow. And Kent is so fucking hilarious. I have a feeling he'll be a finalist, no matter how he does.

Okay, well, I'm working 27 hours this weekend, so I'll see you soon, bbs!
If, in the last week and a half, you comforted me, told me you loved me, gave me advice, called my roommate some variation of jerk, or told me I CAN DO IT, I love you more than you know. Thank you for your kind words.

If you are [livejournal.com profile] starsfell, I could bake sugar cookies every day for the rest of my life and it wouldn't even make a dent in what I owe you for listening to me cry, taking me to KSC, letting me be nosy about your bills, saving a turtle, planning future IKEA trips, and just generally being awesome.

I am feeling better. (Although, strangely, not today.) I got to spend some time alone with Mike while Matt was in church on Sunday. I don't know. I go from being really okay to still burned. I feel like I lost my best friend but gained two good friends. IDEK.

My mantras for the foreseeable future:
You didn't do anything wrong.
It will be okay.
You can do it.
Not changing friends means understanding friends change.
A new place means new stuff!

My mom will be here with her best friend Mary on Tuesday, and I don't have a day off between now and then, so there will be a lot of late night cleaning. I can do zat.

Also, I didn't get a chance to say this right after it happened (since my world, you know, imploded), but I had a YES program two weeks ago with eighth graders, and one of them LOOKED LIKE TINY ROBERT DOWNEY JR. HE HAD TRANSITIONS GLASSES AND EVERYTHING. AND HIS NAME WAS KOSTA. IT WAS AMAZING. I WANTED TO SQUISH HIM.
Hello from McCoy Field!

For those of you who listened to me whine and offered advice last week, thank you. You will be happy to know I was a big girl and Jen and I had a perfectly civil conversation. We stayed away from topics that were unsavory, and I even confided in here a little about what's been bugging me. So no worries. She even offered to pick me up, and refused gas and toll money.

I have 3 more hours before my flight. I am going to go try to get through security without getting arrested, then, because I'm the luckiest girl in the world, both [livejournal.com profile] thalialunacy and [livejournal.com profile] ingridmatthews wrote fic that showed up on my flist, back-to-back! Time (at the airport) shall not go dully by us!

Hoo. Ray.

In a scheduling coup d'etat, I HAVE THE WHOLE WEEK OF CHRISTMAS OFF. I CANNOT EVEN BELIEVE IT. I put in for it last year, knowing I wouldn't get it during the bid. And my scheduler put me on the wait list. AND I GOT IT. So, my sister and I have arranged a surprise homecoming. She's the only one who knows I'm coming. I cannot wait. I think it's pretty funny that I'll have to carry all the presents they sent me back to Denver. Oh well. COLORADO CHRISTMAS FTW!

I've been made to feel very special by several of you. Thank you for the well wishes [livejournal.com profile] rainpuddle13, [livejournal.com profile] abigail89, [livejournal.com profile] sarkastic, and [livejournal.com profile] zorb! AND NIKI YOU MADE ME JUMP UP AND DOWN AND SCREAM! I LOVE YOU WITH THE FIRE OF ONE THOUSAND SUNS!

So, flist: 5, people I know IRL: 2. LJ for the win.

I haven't sent out my cards yet...hoping to finish them tomorrow if work allows.
I feel dumb.  I need help.  Okay, there used to be a show (I'm sure it was on cable, like Spike or USA) about soldiers in Iraq.  And they sang the theme song at the end (it was always incredibly awkward).  And there was the college graduate with glasses and the cheating wife at home and the girls who got in trouble.  WHAT WAS THE NAME OF THAT SHOW???

I've been trying to go through old posts, but I don't remember how long ago it was...wait...was it called Over There?
1. Yay weekend!

2. I went on a friending spree tonight...hi! I probably friended you because you've made me laugh or are otherwise rad.

3. Not that I don't love my music, but I've been wanting to try something new. So I've been searching and destroying links. [livejournal.com profile] wisteria_, [livejournal.com profile] morgaine22, [livejournal.com profile] sarkastic, [livejournal.com profile] trinnifer, and [livejournal.com profile] lyssie, I've taken advantage of some recent posts of yours. If you feel I have wronged you by not commenting on your entry...let me know. I'll comment on your entries!

4. I am tired. I guess I'll have to suck it up and go to the doctor tomorrow.

5. I did about 3 days worth of work today. I was in a zone. It was crazy. Inventory, restock, reorder, and receiving! I don't know how I did it. I will credit caffeine.

6. My best friend got her MFA today! YAY!!! Well, she walked a few weeks ago, but got her diploma in the mail today!!!

7. I really can't wait to see Talladaga Nights. I know. I feel shame.

8. I'm tired. I think I'll go to bed now.

Despite my crankiness/crampiness today, there has been much to glee about. I present it in list form.

1. I was going to be all cranky about how La-La Land Records sucks because I still hadn't received my copy of BSG S2 yet, but I got it in the mail when I got home. AND, when I opened the package, I not only had my hot little hands on my S2 CD, but they included another CD insert signed by Bear McCreary. !!!

2. I have a question for the comic booky peeps on the flist. Do you ever buy comics on the internets? If so, what sites do you like/find reliable?

3. Lime jello with pineapple is very good, despite what FL Matt says.

4. So is B&J's Phish Food. OMGSOGOOD.

5. "I have the con." Lee Adama is so adorkable.

6. [livejournal.com profile] lyssie has posted chipmunk versions of some of her favorite BSG lines. And though I haven't been able to listen to them yet, I can only anticipate the coma of glee I will be in when I can!

7. This icon is for [livejournal.com profile] morgaine22...she posted this picture in a screencap guessy meme...I don't know, like a year ago. And we chatted about how wonderful it would be as an icon. I finally got around to making it an icon.

8. Big Sister Xena creeps me out a little. I'm just saying.

9. Y'all know I work for an overgrown rat, right? Most of the time I work in a building that houses entertainment rehearsals. Because I work in entertainment, very few thing stun me anymore. Well, yesterday, I ran into Jack Sparrow. I'm not kidding. From the neck up, it could have been Johnny Depp (sadly, it wasn't though). Full makeup and hair. But he was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. I had to hold my breath to keep from squeeing. It was awesome.

10. I had something else to say...but I can't remember. Guess it's time for bed, since I have to be at work at 6.

11. I want a C-Bucks patch.

12. That is all.
Does anyone have a copy of "Stacy's Mom," by Fountains of Wayne and/or "Can't Get You Out of My Head," by Kylie Menogue (sp?) that you could bestow on me?

ETA: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lyssie and my houseguest Keyon, I happily have my mits on both! Kisses!
1) It appears I have posted nothing substantial (unless back porn counts) since about the third. Well, I'm not going to buck the trend today. There's a thing...a RL thing that's happening that could be very good, or could be very embarrassing. I'll let you know which as soon as I find out.

2) For what it's worth, today is the 20th anniversary of the last Challenger flight.

3) Seeing as I am a complete slacker, I forgot to wish [livejournal.com profile] cyneburg_leah a happy birthday, so I'll do it in all caps, because that's how much I love her. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LEY! I HOPE YOUR DAY WAS FILLED WITH RAINBOWS AND PUPPY DOGS!

4) Everyone keep an eye out for a naughty librarian job that [livejournal.com profile] morgaine22 hasn't already applied for. She's destined for those sexy glasses and shhhshing.

5) Did you hear that? That was the sound of fandom imploding. Well, BSG fandom. It'll be louder next week.

6) Speaking of whores, BSG 2.14, but not a lot of meta )

7) My little heart breaks for [livejournal.com profile] ingrid_m, for there was no Gaeta at all last night. Also, even more for [livejournal.com profile] lyssie (and myself) because there was no Kara.

ETA: 8) I will be on a mini-vacation starting tomorrow. Matt, Jen and I are going to see Wicked in Tampa, spending the night, going to International Plaza, and eating great chain food that for some reason seems better in Tampa. Monday-Wednesday I'll be vegging, with small chores/appointments in between. And ASL class starts up again on Wednesday night! Yea!

9) Also, I had to rebuild my closet, as the piece of crap that came with the house collapsed. But it's pretty rad now. Pictures later.
Okay, this may be the dumbest question ever, but I'm not savvy with the computer and the flist knows quite a bit. Is there a way to turn a .gif into a .jpg?
...if you're going to use the back roads, know the back roads.

I took the back roads home this afternoon (actually, I was heading to Publix). Now, after the last subdivision, the back roads turn to dirt, which is fine, I own a truck. But I missed a very important turn and ended up in what can only be described as a sand dune. I freaked out, because although where I ended up is still within walking distance of very populous areas, it feels like the middle of nowhere. Spent ammo, trash dumped everywhere and animals of the wild variety. Luckily, a guy I work with has a second job where he drives a heavy truck with a winch. He was at work tonight and not busy. Matt agreed to come and sit with me until Mike got there (because of the aforementioned freak out). And Mike came and saved the day. But as we were leaving, both Matt and I got stuck. So, Mike came back and pulled us both out. I finally got to Publix (3 hours later), we got what we needed and I'm finally back home. OMGYEA!

If I had known that was how the afternoon was going to go, I wouldn't have spent all morning making icons. But I did. 17 new icons!!!! I also (before getting stuck), went to the coinstar machine, because now if you turn in your coins, you can get an amazon.com gift certificate and not have to pay the counting fee. I got all finished, but the thing had a stupid problem and gave me a regular receipt that you have to take to the register. I told them what happened and they gave me the fee back. That was nice.

And, brightening my day even more, I got a beautiful card in the mail from [livejournal.com profile] abigail89. It got hung up at the post office (a little bit of damage), but it came right when I needed it!

So, in conclusion, the right people come into my life when I need them most! Yea for friends!
The prize for the first Christmas Card of the season (and possibly the most adorable ever) goes to [livejournal.com profile] rainpuddle13! OMGCHRISTMASYAY!
[livejournal.com profile] sleepypawn and [livejournal.com profile] puppetoflove, I hope you two are okay...[livejournal.com profile] abigail89 I hope your people are doing okay. Thinking and praying for everyone in or with people in the area.

My people are doing well. Ms. Catherine's power never went out. Ms. Kathy and Mr. Callie's house had some damage (a tree fell on the house's eves where the power is connected, luckily Matt's uncle is an electrician, so he can fix the damage from the feed to the house. It's just a matter of when the electricity comes back to the feed). The bulk of the damage that happened in Matt's parents' area happened after they thought the worst was gone. They said they thought it was finished and then wind came out of nowhere and blew barns and porches away like toys.

This is my last day off before my vacation (Sept. 10), and instead of doing productive things, I think I'll make icons (maybe, I'll do laundry too). Meh.
Half of you are: OMG!!! Why isn't it Friday yet?!? BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!!!

The other half are: OMG!!! Why isn't it Friday yet?!? HALF-BLOOD PRINCE!!!

It makes me giddy in fannish anticipation, but I'm worried that might wane once my mother arrives. We shall see.
Silent Weekend was SOMUCHFUN!!! I learned a whole lot that hasn't been covered in my regular classes, like classifiers and making one sign bigger or smaller to fit the situation. Although, it is difficult to be silent all weekend...especially without much sleep. I did blurt at total non sequitur out in the middle of one class and everyone was looking at me like, "wtf is your problem?" Yeah. We won't even go into the roommate situation...just know that next year, it'll just be me and Jenn.

Before I go on...I want to thank [livejournal.com profile] rainpuddle13 for the unexpected mail. It totally made my day!Getting stuff in the mail is awesome.

BSG this and that )

Eek...my mom's going to be here in two weeks.

Aahhh...two days off...mmm.....That is all for now.

Yea!! New mood theme by [livejournal.com profile] sarkastic. I might die from giddiness.

Maybe it will keep me awake at work tonight. Heh. I doubt it.

On a totally different subject, I really want an icon that says "Is Darth Vader gonna have to choke a bitch?" But I'm too lazy to do it tonight.

Maybe the icon gnome will leave it under my pillow...
...and I blame [livejournal.com profile] lizardlaugh. April sucked...I was so excited for May...and then I fell into a fandom I can't get out of. My May has been consumed by Battlestar Galactica, and it's [livejournal.com profile] lizardlaugh who told us all we were fools for not watching...so I watched. (And now I have ANOTHER tv!girl crush.) Thanks.

Now I'm gonna say it. If you're not watching BSG you're missing some of THE BEST. TV. EVER. And fanfiction...but that's for a different post.

I think I even missed some of the Star Wars excitement because of it (that and I spent a little too much of it in March when CW2 came out).

And so, if you're dropping by because I friended you recently (I friended 5 or 10 today), it's probably because you are a BSG fan. Hi. I try not to bite. Hard.

RL...am doing okay...i start overnights for One Mighty Party tomorrow night. Hee. OMP. Family's almost in town.
Okay, gang, I need your help. Since all of you have much better taste in music than me, I need your help! I don't usually buy a CD unless it has 3 songs on it that I know are good, but my collection is so stale right now that I'm going crazy. I need some good tunes. That's where you come in.

Please convince me to buy (or talk me out of buying) the following CDs (and before you say anything about downloading...no, my computer and I have not yet reached the 21st century, therefore, I have no iPod, no MP3 player, get over it). Please tell me why you love or abhor:

Green Day - American Idiot
The Killers - Hot Fuss
Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
Modest Mouse - Good News for People Who Love Bad News
Keane - Hopes & Fears
Jet - Get Born

I'm looking to purchase 3 or 4 in a sitting...any recs outside what I mentioned? I'm open as long as it's good stuff.

And, while I did leave the option open, you probably won't talk me out of buying American Idiot (unless you say it will make me want to kill my firstborn, then I might reconsider).

I opened the mailbox and there was a valentine from [livejournal.com profile] abigail89. D...you made my day!

We had so much fun in class tonight. Mostly because 4 of us are "advanced" and we spent the whole time looking up bad words then trying to make each other blush (BTW, penis was the word of the day). So. Much. Fun. If you ever have the opportunity to take a sign language class, take it.
