If, in the last week and a half, you comforted me, told me you loved me, gave me advice, called my roommate some variation of jerk, or told me I CAN DO IT, I love you more than you know. Thank you for your kind words.

If you are [livejournal.com profile] starsfell, I could bake sugar cookies every day for the rest of my life and it wouldn't even make a dent in what I owe you for listening to me cry, taking me to KSC, letting me be nosy about your bills, saving a turtle, planning future IKEA trips, and just generally being awesome.

I am feeling better. (Although, strangely, not today.) I got to spend some time alone with Mike while Matt was in church on Sunday. I don't know. I go from being really okay to still burned. I feel like I lost my best friend but gained two good friends. IDEK.

My mantras for the foreseeable future:
You didn't do anything wrong.
It will be okay.
You can do it.
Not changing friends means understanding friends change.
A new place means new stuff!

My mom will be here with her best friend Mary on Tuesday, and I don't have a day off between now and then, so there will be a lot of late night cleaning. I can do zat.

Also, I didn't get a chance to say this right after it happened (since my world, you know, imploded), but I had a YES program two weeks ago with eighth graders, and one of them LOOKED LIKE TINY ROBERT DOWNEY JR. HE HAD TRANSITIONS GLASSES AND EVERYTHING. AND HIS NAME WAS KOSTA. IT WAS AMAZING. I WANTED TO SQUISH HIM.

Things! Have happened since I last posted.

I got a promotion! No one was more surprised than me. To all of you who told me to keep my head up after last year's debacle, I thank you. It is amazing to have a manager and co-workers who will fight for you.

I saw Big Bad Voodoo Daddy tonight! Cool, baby. Makes me want to pull out the old CDs.

FL Matt and I went to Rochester this weekend to meet my goddaughter. What a cutie! We had a fantastic weekend. We went up to NY Jenn's grandparents' house on Keuka Lake. It was a beautiful day. Then on Sunday, we went wine tasting and NY Matt and I put Kiera into funny pictures. She wasn't impressed. But we laughed. A lot. Monday morning, before our flight, NY Matt took us to the Strong Museum of Play. REPLICA OF 123 SESAME STREET. I DON'T THINK I HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING ELSE. FL Matt and I didn't want to come home. Alas, we did.

Today was the end of Fiscal Year at work. Also, I was off yesterday. So the morning was a little crazy. Also, there was a huge event load in. Also, we had a going away party for a friend whose position was eliminated (but she's still with the company). Getting things done was a little difficult, but we managed to get everything done by 4:15. Whoop.

So last night, we went to the airport to pick up FL Matt's friend from College Program. She's in Orlando for some sort of scifi convention. We talk about how it's a Supernatural con. She says she has a journal. "A Live Journal?", I think. In a bizarre turn of events, it's [livejournal.com profile] lostt1! And we have a couple of flisties in common! Including Niki, the awesomesause that should be on every internet sundae. (I feel that metaphor is a little strange, but I'm going to go with it.) Totally awesome how small the world is!

Okay, I'm listening to the Senators be awkward and sort of boring. I guess I should pay attention. But I'm sure I'll realize I forgot something. If I get some energy, I'll post some pictures. :)
1. Yay weekend!

2. I went on a friending spree tonight...hi! I probably friended you because you've made me laugh or are otherwise rad.

3. Not that I don't love my music, but I've been wanting to try something new. So I've been searching and destroying links. [livejournal.com profile] wisteria_, [livejournal.com profile] morgaine22, [livejournal.com profile] sarkastic, [livejournal.com profile] trinnifer, and [livejournal.com profile] lyssie, I've taken advantage of some recent posts of yours. If you feel I have wronged you by not commenting on your entry...let me know. I'll comment on your entries!

4. I am tired. I guess I'll have to suck it up and go to the doctor tomorrow.

5. I did about 3 days worth of work today. I was in a zone. It was crazy. Inventory, restock, reorder, and receiving! I don't know how I did it. I will credit caffeine.

6. My best friend got her MFA today! YAY!!! Well, she walked a few weeks ago, but got her diploma in the mail today!!!

7. I really can't wait to see Talladaga Nights. I know. I feel shame.

8. I'm tired. I think I'll go to bed now.

Despite my crankiness/crampiness today, there has been much to glee about. I present it in list form.

1. I was going to be all cranky about how La-La Land Records sucks because I still hadn't received my copy of BSG S2 yet, but I got it in the mail when I got home. AND, when I opened the package, I not only had my hot little hands on my S2 CD, but they included another CD insert signed by Bear McCreary. !!!

2. I have a question for the comic booky peeps on the flist. Do you ever buy comics on the internets? If so, what sites do you like/find reliable?

3. Lime jello with pineapple is very good, despite what FL Matt says.

4. So is B&J's Phish Food. OMGSOGOOD.

5. "I have the con." Lee Adama is so adorkable.

6. [livejournal.com profile] lyssie has posted chipmunk versions of some of her favorite BSG lines. And though I haven't been able to listen to them yet, I can only anticipate the coma of glee I will be in when I can!

7. This icon is for [livejournal.com profile] morgaine22...she posted this picture in a screencap guessy meme...I don't know, like a year ago. And we chatted about how wonderful it would be as an icon. I finally got around to making it an icon.

8. Big Sister Xena creeps me out a little. I'm just saying.

9. Y'all know I work for an overgrown rat, right? Most of the time I work in a building that houses entertainment rehearsals. Because I work in entertainment, very few thing stun me anymore. Well, yesterday, I ran into Jack Sparrow. I'm not kidding. From the neck up, it could have been Johnny Depp (sadly, it wasn't though). Full makeup and hair. But he was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. I had to hold my breath to keep from squeeing. It was awesome.

10. I had something else to say...but I can't remember. Guess it's time for bed, since I have to be at work at 6.

11. I want a C-Bucks patch.

12. That is all.
Sunday (last)/Monday: Called-in sick to go to Naples. :) Saw NY Matt and Jen and met some of Jen's family. We had a blast. Her family is a hoot. I can't wait for the wedding to meet the rest of the family. It was super-cold last weekend, so we stayed in most of the time. But I insisted that if we were that close to the ocean, we needed to go to the beach, so we did Monday before we had to come home. OMGSOCOLD. But it was low tide an I found some fantastic shells (and a sand dollar!).

They showed me a new dice game called Left-Right-Center. How come no one told me this game was so fun? It may be due to the fact that I TOOK EVERYONE'S MONEY, but it would have been fun even if I'd lost.

Tuesday: Worked at Studios. I don't recall anything bad happening. I was kind of cranky when I got home, but Matt worked some Valentine's Day magic and left some flowers and chocolates in my room. Felt loved.

Wednesday: Had to get up early for a YES program. Suck. It was fine, except the other facilitators forgot to tell me they made a change in the schedule. Left me looking foolish, but whatever. I got an email to call Animal Kingdom after my program, and since I was heading that way, I just stopped by. Got confirmation that I would be filling a position for 6 months that gets me 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday. AWESOME. Went to ASL and watched Illuminations with Jen. :D Even though "we don't celebrate Valentine's Day," Jen got me some chocolate and magnets for my wall. Felt loved, but also like an ass.

Thursday: Was expecting a long day, but this was ridiculous. I went into AK at 10:30 to do some refresh on the position I'll be taking over and a team building exercise. Got to Studios and Uncle Fester asked if I was ready for a 12-hour shift. not. good. No one bothered to call me and mention that we would be staying until 3:30AM. so. not. good. So my original 10:30-10:30 shift turned into an 18-hour laugh-a-thon. Fine. Whatever. I'll take the money and run.

The only comfort was the fact that, the teambuilding? Was a backstage lion experience at AK. SUPERSWEET!!! We got to tour the cages and get up close (well, as close as two fences can get you) to the set of lions that weren't on stage. So beautiful. The male looked like Aslan and I wanted to give him a hug, but also wanted to keep my hands, so...yay!

Friday: Was exhausted from 18-hour Thursday. And some days, I just hate being crew chief. Friday was one such 10-hour day. Everybody needed everything RFNOMG. We had about 4 events and whiny event managers. I wasn't happy. Also, found out that the regular schedule I was so excited about won't be my schedule because of labor cutbacks. NOT HAPPY. But, SciFi Friday sort of made up for it...but that's a post for later.

Saturday: Nice, mellow day. Eight hours felt like a vacation. We were busy, but not bad. Got to see Bode Miller not only choke, but decimate that gate. Wow.

Sunday (today): Lazy day at AK. Ahhhh.... Jimmie Johnson just won the Daytona 500. Whatever. Going to meet Matt and his visiting family for dinner. YAY!
Friends all,

I wish you the Merriest Christmas, the Happiest Hanukkah, and a most joyous Holiday Season.

I spent a lovely Christmas morning with my mom and am now at work (we're going for a little Narnia-related park awareness later). Speaking of Narnia...saw it last night. Brilliant. I didn't think I could love Liam Neeson any more. Aslan!
How often is the answer to the question..."What did you tonight?"...made a necklace and watched sumo wrestling?

I'm guessing not very often.

Am exhausted...home in 15, then straight to bed.
I facilitated an Animation Magic today and I had 18 fifth and sixth graders (all girls) from Sydney, Australia. They were the cutest, most polite (for middle schoolers), best group ever! A little impatient (they were ticked because there weren't any rides involved in this program). We kind of got rushed and I felt like they had a sub-par program, but at the end two of the girls thanked me "on behalf of the fifth and sixth grade girls..." and I about lost it in their cuteness. If every YES were like that, I'd wish for one every week.
I guess 6 o'clocks finally caught up with me. I slept 9 hours last night, and woke up in the exact same position as when I went to sleep. I normally toss...A LOT. So I pretty much slept like a rock. Then woke up, and went back to sleep for 3 more hours (which I never do). I feel really great, though. Except my neck hurts. But I'm cogent, so...woohoo!

Work tonight shouldn't be too bad, even though I'm in training.
Am tired. Trained for new position today, not too busy so that was nice.

[livejournal.com profile] sarkastic suggested watching Veronica Mars last night, and since there's nothing good on on whatever night last night was, I watched (also, am sheep). Not too bad. I like her dad. We'll see how it goes. One potential problem, it's moving to Wednesday. Eep.

Nobody's posted any BSG fic today, and I'm bored, so I guess I'll have to root around in people's memories. Any recs? Anyone? Bueller? (And, "go outside" is not going to be considered. It's like being on the sun outside today.)
...there's a clandestine meeting of a special event night and the timely disposal of old confetti cannon rounds?

You guessed right! CONFETTI WAR!!
Well RL does tend to get the better of me these days. Especially with the hurricanes. We did fine through Jeanne. We had some very tense moments early Sunday morning when all the plywood protecting the windows on the back of the house was ripped off by the wind. But all is well.

I passed my Class B driving test, so I'm now legal to drive up to 26' straight trucks (so watch out). I guess this means I'm an offical Floridian, now that I have the Florida ID. Man, I didn't want to give my Texas one up, but...what to do?

And, I've been watching shameful amounts of of Buffy and Angel. I finally saw "Smile Time," and I must say, it may be the funniest thing ever. The thought of Spike getting beaten up by a puppet Angel is just too much for my brain to handle. Expect a new icon soon.

Back to work...
I'm no ded.

All is well since Ivan decided to visit up North. Not that I wished it on anyone else...but 3 in one month is just too much. Jeanne's looking shifty though. I hope everyone in Ivan's path is okay.

Birthday was great! Had 2 great birthday dinners...low key, but just up my alley. And what's the best thing about birthdays...birthday money, of course! Bought Angel season 4 and Alias season 3...then went to amazon and bought seasons 1-3 of Angel. Kind of wish I had been into BtVS & AtS when they were on (like I would watch that ::eyeroll::)...but, new obsessions are nice.

Training at a new location at work (CEF goodness, Bruce). Not too bad, but it hasn't been really busy. We'll see.
After what seems like an eternity, I've decided to at least sunbathe next to the LJ pool. I've missed some of the LJ love from my friends...and just added my first RL LJ buddy (hi, Bruce). My computer is still crap, but I'm hoping Buttercup can make it a lean, mean internet machine...or, you know, at least make it actually hook up to the internet.

I'm well...Dad & crew's visit: good...Mom's visit: long (and good)...new job:very good...Matt&Juan's breakup ("seperation"):good in the longterm...not so good now. My whole attitude has changed with the new job, I'm not sure if it's because I'm living comfortably now or I'm away from guests, or it's just a job that I like, but I'll take happy any way I can get it.

More later...I'm not going anywhere (as far as I know...only for sunblock and drinks with umbrellas)

Apr. 9th, 2004 12:35 pm
Okay, so I had the "second interview" today. And it was just "hey, does this sound like something you want to do...this is where you'll be...this is how much you'll be making...fill out this ATF form so you can handle explosives."

YeAAAAA! Best part...b/c I have previous tech experience... I'm getting a $4.04 raise. Thank God!

Soooo...relieved. Now I can work on my [livejournal.com profile] triofqf fic.

Ooo...also got my hair whacked of on Wednesday.

Not looking forward to work tonight...am looking forward to having only 3 weeks left of crappy work.
So, apparently, the job is not mine...I have to go on ANOTHER interview. I asked the girl that called what kind of interview it was, and why I had to go through another interview, when I'd already been through one and one over the phone, but she wouldn't spill. I guess I did the happy dance too early. Now, I have to anguish until Friday...then do well at the interview...then wait for word...

Of course, none of this helped my heinous day at work.

Apr. 2nd, 2004 04:10 pm
I posted a long post on Sunday about my car breaking down, but the computer was snarky and didn't accept it. Oh well, the long and short of it is...I'm out $350, but didn't have to pay rent, have two REALLY GREAT roommates, and life, indeed, goes on.

Wait for it...wait for it...

Doo do doo do do doo do. Doo do doo do do doo do. EEee eee eeeeeeee. I got the job, I got the joooob.

I don't know when I start, since it hasn't officially been offered to me...but my days at the front desk are coming to a screeching halt! I could not be more thrilled (unless a really handsome man (or Jennifer Garner) and a large amount of money were involved).
What a surreal day, yesterday...

I had my interview for THE job yesterday. I was supposed to interview with a guy named Todd. When I heard my name called, it was not Todd, but my former manager, David. Hi craziness...

The interview went okay...David asked me to tell him about myself. I'm like "you know me" but did the obligatory life story anyway. Got the two stupidest questions: What is your best trait/biggest weakness? Does any interviewer belive that the person they're interviewing answers those questions seriously?

Anyway, I got one of the easy tech questions wrong, which makes me feel stupid. But I haven't done any tech work for almost 2 years. So I don't feel too bad. This was just a preliminary interview...so hopefully I'll have to deal with all the nervousness again. Maybe next time I won't give any stupid answers. I'm actually pretty glad David was my interviewer, since he knows I'm a good tech. Some random person I've never met before might have just gone "She doesn't know what she's talking about" and not pass my name on.

Just have to wait now..........
Squee for the trailer. Can I just say, I love Emma Thompson. I love her. And now that I'm totally stuck on the theory that Ron is a seer, I can't wait to see the movie even more!

It's interesting...1/2 flist=THAT RAWKED!!! Other 1/2 flist=ihopealfonsohasntscrewedhpup! Hee.

In RL news, I have an interview tomorrow for THE job. Meh. I'm super nervous. Hopefully I don't put my foot in my mouth. EEK!
I needed them. Juan is being released from the hospital today. He's MUCH better. Matt says he hasn't seen Juan like this (in a good way) for about 3 months. We do realize that he's on some drugs, but sometimes that's what it takes, right?

In other news, yesterday was good. I was getting trained for a new position at work. And yesterday was bad. Next week I am being trained for a different job opportunity. But my scheduler didn't bother to schedule me for it. When I emailed him, he blamed it on me, saying that if he doesn't know what the email is about, he just deletes it. HELLO!!! Whatever. Also, I went to sign up for my Sign Language class and was told it was full. Great. Hopefully, the instructor will let me in. (Hey, it's another $92 for her).

Anyway, more later.

Kisses, kel
