Well, I survived my first hurricane. The past two days at work were non-stop hurricane prep. Today I got away from the madness by being sent to another park, where most of what was going on went on before I got here.

The power went out at 7:30 last night...not back on yet, but that's okay; there are people in our county way worse off than us. Haven't had time to assess the damage as both Matt and I had to be at work at 6 this morning. It was scary, but not as bad as I thought it would be. Once the power went out, we played uno and listened to the radio. The eye passed just to the east of us, so we got all the regular hurricane related mess...the rain (and wind) came from one way, stopped, then came from the other. We had our windows boarded up, which seemed like overkill-but ended up being just enough kill as a branch hit our sliding glass door. Would have been major damage.

I missed the opening ceremonies...man, does that bite. My best friend from college was there making some of the costumes for OC and I really wanted to see it. Oh well, maybe someone taped it and can send it to me.
