So, we went to dinner. Mike didn't have much to say. Matt and I made a little conversation. I paid because they've been feeding me, and have paid the last few times I've been out with them. I know I'm saying this a lot, but IDEK. Let's move on.

[livejournal.com profile] abigail89 tagged me:

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 4-7 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest (unless it's too troublesome to reach and is really heavy. Then go back to step 1).
6. Tag five people.

The closest book to me was the last one I finished, The Battle of the Labyrinth, Book Four of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Then last year Apollo said something about the old god Helios disappearing and leaving him with the duties of the sun god. I'd never thought about it too much, but now, looking at Briares, I realized how terrible it would be to be so old - thousands and thousands of years old - and totally alone.

"I must go," Briares said.

"Kronos's army will invade camp," Tyson said. "We need help."

Briares hung his head. "I cannot, Cyclops."

I don't want to tag anybody. Please consider yourself tagged if you would like to participate.

I hope I did this right...IDEK.

So, I'm having dinner with Matt and Mike tomorrow night. This will either be really great or a total disaster.

I've ridden 22 miles so far this week! Woo!
Leave me a comment saying "Resistance is Futile."
I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can satisfy my curiosity
Update your journal with the answers to the questions
Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.

This set of somewhat embarrassing questions courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] timjr:

1. One endangered species gets to be suddenly repopulated. Which would you choose and why? IDEK. I'm not an animal person. Can I say the dodo bird and get away with it? There, I just did.

2. We all have a guilty pleasure band that we listen to. What's yours and what is your favorite song of theirs? New Kids on the Block, yes, mock all you want. I got to relive my childhood and not everyone gets to do that is all I'm saying. Plus, I get to list two songs, because they have two eras. Old skool, My Favorite Girl; new skool, Dirty Dancing.

3. Smurfs, Snorks, or Gummi Bears? I don't remember watching Gummi Bears, and very vaguely remember Snorks, so I'm going to have to go with Smurfs. I just bought a smurf pin set from the target dollar bin because there was one that said, I (picture of Brainy Smurf) nerds! YES.

4. What's one embarrassing childhood event you'd rather forget ever happened? Why, thanks for bringing this up...the one that always comes to mind for me is: When I was 10 or 11, I had just seen Spaceballs, and I walked up to give our music director at church (in the rehearsal room) a tape and gave it to him via the Spaceballs salute. I didn't know it meant the other thing. Oops.

5. If you had to 'reimagine' one series that hasn't already been rebooted, what would you choose and what would you do? My immediate reaction to this question was The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones. But, when you start messing around with Lucas/Spielberg enterprises, shit goes down. So instead, I will say, Space: Above and Beyond. What? Fox has never known what to do with quality sci-fi programming? I KNOW. Basically, I would fix the decade old SFX, make it so that everyone didn't die in the series Season 1 finale (allegedly), and continue kicking ass. Also, Tanks were man-made way before Cylons were human. Discuss.

Icon love!

Reply to this post and I will pick six of your icons.
Make a post (including this info) and talk about the icons I chose.
Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
This will create a never ending cycle of icon glee.

Also, maple turkey? Thanks for the shout out T:TSCC!

So, [livejournal.com profile] sarkastic asked her flist to give her the 10 albums everyone should have on their music player. I gave her the 10 that always have to be on my player. So, close I guess. These are my picks (and yes, I would have included all three seasons of BSG if I thought it wouldn't have made me look even more painfully dorky than my list already does).

My musical taste is...well, Back in Black and Best of Bowie were #11 & 12... )

So, what are the 10 albums that always have to be on your player?
Because I had a bad day and he makes me smile...

I have that "Oh, God, I'm drowning in things that have to be done before December 25th" feeling right now. So, instead of working on what is going to be the most boring Christmas Card newsletter ever, I'm going to do the meme that [livejournal.com profile] morgaine22 tagged me for on NOVEMBER 23RD. Yes, I do suck. Sorry, Niki.

(I'm also not cool enough to know how to make these available to you, but if anyone wants to listen to any of the songs, let me know.)

Instructions: List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your Livejournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

1. Feel Good, Inc., Gorillaz- I've heard a sum total of two Gorillaz songs, but I love them both. If the rest of their songs are as good as this one, I really should by the CD. Plus, it's on pretty much every time I get into the truck, and I don't hate it, so it must be good.

2. Gold Digger, Kayne West (Featuring Jaime Foxx)- Get down, girl. Go ahead. Get down.

3. Ohio (Come Back to Texas), Bowling for Soup- Any song that mentions Blue Bell ice cream is tops on my list. And it reminds me of home.

4. Photograph, Nickelback- I don't know why. I just like it. I'm a closet Nickelback fan, I suppose.

5. Flesh and Bone, Battlestar Galactica Season One Soundtrack- Everyone seems to love Passacaglia, but this is my favorite track off the album. I think this piece's movements are just fantastic. And the layers of different instrument and beats Bear uses are amazing.

6. A Different Drum, Peter Gabriel (from Passion)- This is the album that got me into world music. To say it is an amazing work does it little justice. We used this particular song when I was a Sophomore in HS in our One-Act Play. So yes, I've been into this song for the better part of 13 years. But it still sounds as fresh as the day I first heard it.

7. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings, Barenaked Ladies feat. Sheryl Crow- I only picked this one because I had to pick one song from the CD. But all the songs are fun, some are very funny. Kevin's keyboard instrumentals are just great. If you need to buy a holiday CD for someone, buy Barenaked for the Holidays (unless they're Christian Fundies, because there are 3 or 4 Hanukkah songs and they sing Happy Birthday to Jesus at the end, actually, CFs might like that).

Ack! It's December 7th! I have too much to do! (But please, everyone take a moment to remember Pearl Harbor.)

ETA: The spell check suggesets fun dies for fundies. And I roll off to my bedroom laughing.
Egged on by [livejournal.com profile] brynnmck, and with my most profound apologies to [livejournal.com profile] meyerlemon:

When you see this on your flist, quote Firefly.

I had to at least do it...and the answers are too funny not to share..

From everyone:

Anyways, the rules of the meme that is eating LJ alive: Make a list of all the characters in your icons. (Although you may have more than one icon of a single character, they only go on the list once. Alphabetize it. Take the first two people on the list; that's your first pairing. Second two people; second pairing. Etc.

I swear I didn't cheat )

That, really, was too much.
Pinched from [livejournal.com profile] brynnmck:

Some of you I hardly know at all, but you friended me and I thank you. But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she wears mismatched socks." I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.
Darth Tater is mine!!! Mwa!

If anyone needs anything from Star Wars Weekends, I need to know before Friday, so I can shop. There's some great merch this year (Darth Tater included). Any special birthday requests [livejournal.com profile] morgaine22?

And, because even though I say I'm not a sheep, I really am:
