My Papaw's first surgery (to remove the blood clot from his knee) went very well. He's alert and laughing when we talk to him on the phone (I think because he's heavily medicated). I hope the hip replacement goes just as well.
ETA: My Memaw is not the most mentally clear person any longer, but we think we got the whole story straight by all of us asking the same questions about the fall, then assembling each of the answers she gave. My Papaw was carrying in some groceries this last Sunday with both hands full. He couldn't hold on to the stair rails, lost balance and fell. I have no idea how she got him into the house from the carport. So he was only at home with a broken hip for two days, which is still a very long time when you have a broken hip, but, that's my grandpa.
