This is for the gang at
beyond_insane. Y'all made me a staunch L/K shipper before I viewed even one episode of the series. Hee.
Title: Sometimes, Different is Better
Author:
centerspire
Pairing: Duh, I mean, L/K
Length: 100 words
Rating: I'll say...PG-13
Disclaimer: Sue me, if you must, but all I have is a '96 F150 and about 150 DVDs. And you can have all that stuff, if you really want it. Except my Battlestar Galactica DVD. You can't have that. That's Mine!
Since being stationed on the Galactica, Kara had taken to sleeping with her forehead pressed lightly against the cool, hard metal at the back of her bunk. She could feel the ship thrum beneath her, hear it pulse with life. It was calming, comforting. It shut out the world-just her and Galactica-alone. Most nights, it lulled her, even when sleep seemed impossible.
But tonight was different.
Tonight was warm and soft. All she could feel against her head was a slow double thump. All she could hear was Lee's breath, soft and shallow, in her ear.
Kara slept.
A/N: I will say, I'm a 100 word whore. I tend to get caught up in situations and moments, much less in how they connect to one another, so 100 words is kind of my niche. Hope you enjoy ('cause I've got another one to post tomorrow)!

Date: 2005-06-07 10:08 pm (UTC)I love that. It's such a vibrant image. Maybe image isn't the right word--my creative writing teacher always said that when writing either poetry or short fiction (and I always considered drabbles to be a kind of poetry, simply because of the form), to appeal to the senses, to create a concrete image through them. And you did, with absolutely stunning clarity. I can't wait to see tomorrow's.
