So, how important is the board in the storage of comics?

I got my Serenity #2s in the mail the other day and they were bagged but not boarded. Do I make a stink about it with the mail order place? Just curious.

The board is used to keep the comic stiff - helps keep it from being bent, folded, and can help keep edges and corners crisp.

The bag keeps out dust and particles and moisture that devalue comics quickly.

For long term storage, comics should be stored out of direct light in a box designed for comic storage.

Oh and before I forget, generally retailers who do give out bags with comic purchases won't give out boards because boards are more expensive.

Boards will also add to shipping costs because they are relatively heavy - or the good ones are at least.

Yeah, but I ordered from tfaw.com, and paid extra for boards. So should I make a stink or can I find it at my local store for cheap?

It depends on your shop. Some sell bags and boards individually while others only sell in packages of 100. They aren't *that* expensive - $5 for a bag of 100 bags and $9 for 100 boards. But I would send them an email stating that you paid for bags AND boards and you only got bags.
