I have that "Oh, God, I'm drowning in things that have to be done before December 25th" feeling right now. So, instead of working on what is going to be the most boring Christmas Card newsletter ever, I'm going to do the meme that
morgaine22 tagged me for on NOVEMBER 23RD. Yes, I do suck. Sorry, Niki.
(I'm also not cool enough to know how to make these available to you, but if anyone wants to listen to any of the songs, let me know.)
Instructions: List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your Livejournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
1. Feel Good, Inc., Gorillaz- I've heard a sum total of two Gorillaz songs, but I love them both. If the rest of their songs are as good as this one, I really should by the CD. Plus, it's on pretty much every time I get into the truck, and I don't hate it, so it must be good.
2. Gold Digger, Kayne West (Featuring Jaime Foxx)- Get down, girl. Go ahead. Get down.
3. Ohio (Come Back to Texas), Bowling for Soup- Any song that mentions Blue Bell ice cream is tops on my list. And it reminds me of home.
4. Photograph, Nickelback- I don't know why. I just like it. I'm a closet Nickelback fan, I suppose.
5. Flesh and Bone, Battlestar Galactica Season One Soundtrack- Everyone seems to love Passacaglia, but this is my favorite track off the album. I think this piece's movements are just fantastic. And the layers of different instrument and beats Bear uses are amazing.
6. A Different Drum, Peter Gabriel (from Passion)- This is the album that got me into world music. To say it is an amazing work does it little justice. We used this particular song when I was a Sophomore in HS in our One-Act Play. So yes, I've been into this song for the better part of 13 years. But it still sounds as fresh as the day I first heard it.
7. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings, Barenaked Ladies feat. Sheryl Crow- I only picked this one because I had to pick one song from the CD. But all the songs are fun, some are very funny. Kevin's keyboard instrumentals are just great. If you need to buy a holiday CD for someone, buy Barenaked for the Holidays (unless they're Christian Fundies, because there are 3 or 4 Hanukkah songs and they sing Happy Birthday to Jesus at the end, actually, CFs might like that).
Ack! It's December 7th! I have too much to do! (But please, everyone take a moment to remember Pearl Harbor.)
ETA: The spell check suggesets fun dies for fundies. And I roll off to my bedroom laughing.
