Jamie Bamber is weird.

There. I've said it. It's not that I don't like him, or don't find him attractive, but...!!! The television camera is much kinder to him than its still counterpart. Every time I see a picture of him in a magazine, (most recently in Out), I just, I don't know. I get all giggly and embarrassed because he just looks goofy.

In less fannish news, the past two weeks have been crazy. We went to Silent Weekend in Tampa, which started off with a bang-literally-as we were in a four car pile up on I4. We were all okay, if not a little miffed. It just proved that a tiny Toyota Corolla is no match for a Jeep Liberty, a Ford Explorer, and another Jeep Liberty. We got to sleep in really close quarters, they reserved a king room for the four of us. Whee! But, we all played nice. The conference was great, I got to work on the reception skills that I still so desperately need. The only thing I was a little disappointed by was the lack of new classes for intermediates. I guess I should get my butt in gear and become an advanced.

Mom arrived last week. Yay! She was at a conference all last week, so I didn't feel guilty about working, which is so often the case when she's here. I realized I can never come out to her. Not sure how I feel about that. In denial.

On the 4th, we went to see the fireworks at Epcot. I don't know who designed this year, but they were fantastic. Totally worth the hassle of going to Epcot on the fourth.

Yesterday, we went to Magic Kingdom and waited about an hour for Pirates of the Caribbean. There's normally no way in hell I would wait 15 minutes for Pirates, but it was the grand reopening with the new Jack Sparrow characters, and it was Pirates day. It had to be done. Saw Dead Man's Chest. It was okay. I laughed, I cried, I peed my pants. Okay, I only did one of those things. You pick which. I need to see it again before I can say anything relevant. BUT THE ENDING!!1!! OMGWTFDMC!!!!

That's about all for now. Had to work today, did a little shopping afterward. Just lazing around now. Trying to get silly Jamie Bamber pics out of my head.

Gleeee!!!!

Despite my crankiness/crampiness today, there has been much to glee about. I present it in list form.

1. I was going to be all cranky about how La-La Land Records sucks because I still hadn't received my copy of BSG S2 yet, but I got it in the mail when I got home. AND, when I opened the package, I not only had my hot little hands on my S2 CD, but they included another CD insert signed by Bear McCreary. !!!

2. I have a question for the comic booky peeps on the flist. Do you ever buy comics on the internets? If so, what sites do you like/find reliable?

3. Lime jello with pineapple is very good, despite what FL Matt says.

4. So is B&J's Phish Food. OMGSOGOOD.

5. "I have the con." Lee Adama is so adorkable.

6. [livejournal.com profile] lyssie has posted chipmunk versions of some of her favorite BSG lines. And though I haven't been able to listen to them yet, I can only anticipate the coma of glee I will be in when I can!

7. This icon is for [livejournal.com profile] morgaine22...she posted this picture in a screencap guessy meme...I don't know, like a year ago. And we chatted about how wonderful it would be as an icon. I finally got around to making it an icon.

8. Big Sister Xena creeps me out a little. I'm just saying.

9. Y'all know I work for an overgrown rat, right? Most of the time I work in a building that houses entertainment rehearsals. Because I work in entertainment, very few thing stun me anymore. Well, yesterday, I ran into Jack Sparrow. I'm not kidding. From the neck up, it could have been Johnny Depp (sadly, it wasn't though). Full makeup and hair. But he was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. I had to hold my breath to keep from squeeing. It was awesome.

10. I had something else to say...but I can't remember. Guess it's time for bed, since I have to be at work at 6.

11. I want a C-Bucks patch.

12. That is all.

I'm here.

May. 2nd, 2006 11:37 am
1) Not so much with the posting lately. Sorry. Not much going on. Still love you lots.
2) In a fit of "why pay rent when you can have the pretty," mixed with, "well, I get a 35% discount," I bought this last week. I love it. It makes me want to sit in the library and stare at it forever. Do I even have any Narnia fans on the flist? )
3)May has turned from a really long month to a really short month for me, mostly because I have so much to do before vacation and I'm starting to realize that I haven't done any of it.
a) Get bride's maid dress altered
b) Make Mom Mother's Day present
c) Tay's Birthday is in 6 days
d) Make Chris' graduation present
e) This list is going to make me start hyperventilating.
4) On the flip side, VACATION IN 17 DAYS!!! FOR 18 DAYS!!! I could be more happy, but that might involve winning some sort of prize.
5) If I read the BSG S3 spoilers, will I be devastated? I have the mixed feelings. I think I'll stay away.
6) I think I'm going to Epcot today with Jen to see Flower and Garden.
7) I should be cleaning. Company in 2 days.
8) I don't know. I just woke up. Cobwebs.
9) :D Have a great day!
Press event's over but my work life still sucks. So hard I want to quit. I don't even want to type why, I just want to forget some of this crap (and these crappy people). FOREVEROMG! *eyerolls*

Whatever, it's all okay because [livejournal.com profile] lyssie WROTE ME PORN! Okay, fine, it's not technically porn. But it might as well be. Because it made me do a happy dance! It's Kara/Anders...go read it! Don't lie, you know you want to...even if you don't watch BSG...no really, go! I'll wait.

...

...

You back? Wasn't that awesome!?! It had indirect Zak. How fucking cool is that??? It's like she wrote it just for me. Oh, wait... I feel like I should reciprocate with a icon-ficlet-meme-thing of my own, but I just don't feel like it right now. I'll store it away for later.
And so, this is how my "weekend" went. Thank God for Tuesday and Wednesday is all I can say. I worked 48 of the last 72 hours. Am ded. This press event cannot be over soon enough. I will glee. From what I can assume, when we were loading in on Sunday night, my phone fell off my belt while I was getting into my truck and I ran over it. The guys in the park found it, the case, not a scratch on it, the phone, kinda smushed. Luckily I have insurance on the stupid thing, because this is the second time in a year I've had to replace it. But the sim card is in tact so, yay!

I haven't posted in a while...but I've been lurking. Am not ded (contrary to a few sentences ago). Not much going on in RL besides me getting my ass handed to me at work. I have BSG glee. My 2 day spring break was awesome. We spent it lazily at AK Lodge and had giraffes staring at us. Yay giraffes! Umm...last ASL class is tomorrow night, SILENT DINNER! I think I'm gonna try for my sign language pin in the next few weeks. That's all I can think of for now. I want to go back to bed, but I think I'll go buy Narnia and the opening day pin at MGM.

I'd say IM me...but no phone!

CRISIS!!!!

Mar. 10th, 2006 06:21 pm
Okay, not really. But...but...here's the thing. I have to watch tonight's BSG. Also, I have to be at work at 5AM. I know what my decision will be if I make it on my own so...POLL! And remember, nobody votes in my polls so YOUR VOTE COUNTS!

[Poll #688630]
1. And this is based on no knowledge of the show whatsoever, but the wraithes on Atlantis kindof look like albino Orcs.

2. OMGFLAILYBSGGLEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! There's my show.
Thanks to a post by [livejournal.com profile] kara_thrace over at [livejournal.com profile] pyramidofdreams, I will not be missing BSG. However, due to a number of strange occurrences (Olympic Fever, me working a day shift on a Friday, me not having the slightest clue what day it is (really ever), me having gotten about 14 hours of sleep all week), had I not seen that post, I guarantee you would have seen flailing of a different sort in this space about 3 hours from now. I really jumped off the bed and actually flailed for like a minute before I calmed down.

Of course, after typing this, I realize that had I missed it, it will be on again at 1 AM, BUT STILL!!!! FLAIL!
Or...the one where Chiggy von Richthofen kills Shane's old fiance.

ABANDON ALL HOPE. C'mon...you were thinking it too. )
We talked. Jen and I finally talked.

And...

And...

YES.

*giggles*

Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] abigail89 !!!!

May your day be filled with unmeasurable happiness!

BTW, if you haven't read what D wrote about the State of the Union, you're missing out.  Love is love.

I have had a great week, so far.  On Sunday, we went to Tampa to see Wicked.  (Ate at Johnny Carino's before the show...SOGOODOMG.)  The show was pretty good.  I didn't know anything about it before I saw it.  I kind of wish I had at least listened to the soundtrack first, because the guy mixing the mics didn't do a great job.  That, and I'm losing my high end hearing.  But, visually stunning.  Lighting and costumes were awesome.  I was a little disappointed in the story because it felt a little rushed to me.  There were several things that weren't explained well, IMHO.  On the whole, great way to spend an afternoon.  After the show we went to International Plaza, but it being Sunday, it closed at 6, so we didn't get to see a whole lot.  I wasn't that disappointed.  PF Chang's had an hour wait, so we decided to run to check out the Hard Rock Casino.  Nothing too special (apart from actually having a casino an hour away), so we came home and crashed.  Slept next to a pretty girl.  Life is good.

Monday, Matt and I went to Whole Foods.  I was complaining on the way that I really didn't know my way around North of the Florida Mall, so we took some side streets, stopped at some antique shops (could've spent at least a grand, omg), lollygagged around and finally made it to WF.  It is a pretty small store.  I had never been to one.  Matt was underwhelmed (he said it was about half the size of his back home.  It was okay.  Very nice produce.  I bought $20 worth of tea.  Stopped on the way back at Home Depot because Matt's got a wild hair to redo two of the rooms and wanted to price out some stuff and I needed a blackout blind for my window.  We were supposed to hang my new celing fan, but we really couldn't move, so...I went to see Brokeback Mountain with Jen.  I'm kind of meh about it.  It was good, but I don't know if it was worth all the hype.  I love Ang Lee...and it was very him.  But, I don't really need to see it again.

Matt got the wireless internet working again, so I have internet on the dinosaur.  I thought if I could get my sound card working, I really didn't need to get a new one until next year.  But woe, either the sound card is inop or my computer is just crap because it won't recognize the software.  I did get the AOL MacAfee virus software downloaded and installed, AFTER 14 HOURS.  All this happened yesterday around a lovely trip to the eye doctor.  I always feel like I'm taking a very important test during the "which is better, #1 or #2" bit of the exam.  My doctor doesn't help.  Oh well.  He told me that hopefully my vision stops getting worse soon, because Acuvue only makes up to a 12.  Thanks, Doc.  So I had my eyes dilated, and didn't really feel like going to Publix, so I came home and crashed out.  Watched some Season 1 SeaQuest and made a morning mix CD of peppy songs that I'm sure would be totally embarrassing, but I don't care (if anyone wants some peppy music, let me know).  Jen came over and we watched the BSG mini...I think I may have hooked her. YAY!

So today, last day of mini-vacation (woe), I'm getting a pedicure, actually going to Publix, going to Epcot to see if I can find a teabox in UK, and going to ASL class.  Jen's meeting me after her classes at Valencia and we're going to watch Illuminations.  Hopefully I'll have the guts to tell her how I feel.

There should be 4-day weekends every week.

1) It appears I have posted nothing substantial (unless back porn counts) since about the third. Well, I'm not going to buck the trend today. There's a thing...a RL thing that's happening that could be very good, or could be very embarrassing. I'll let you know which as soon as I find out.

2) For what it's worth, today is the 20th anniversary of the last Challenger flight.

3) Seeing as I am a complete slacker, I forgot to wish [livejournal.com profile] cyneburg_leah a happy birthday, so I'll do it in all caps, because that's how much I love her. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LEY! I HOPE YOUR DAY WAS FILLED WITH RAINBOWS AND PUPPY DOGS!

4) Everyone keep an eye out for a naughty librarian job that [livejournal.com profile] morgaine22 hasn't already applied for. She's destined for those sexy glasses and shhhshing.

5) Did you hear that? That was the sound of fandom imploding. Well, BSG fandom. It'll be louder next week.

6) Speaking of whores, BSG 2.14, but not a lot of meta )

7) My little heart breaks for [livejournal.com profile] ingrid_m, for there was no Gaeta at all last night. Also, even more for [livejournal.com profile] lyssie (and myself) because there was no Kara.

ETA: 8) I will be on a mini-vacation starting tomorrow. Matt, Jen and I are going to see Wicked in Tampa, spending the night, going to International Plaza, and eating great chain food that for some reason seems better in Tampa. Monday-Wednesday I'll be vegging, with small chores/appointments in between. And ASL class starts up again on Wednesday night! Yea!

9) Also, I had to rebuild my closet, as the piece of crap that came with the house collapsed. But it's pretty rad now. Pictures later.
From [livejournal.com profile] lyssie:

When you see this, post a picture of Kara Thrace in your lj.

If there's any doubt this is for lyssie...let me dispel that. (Spoiler from 2.15, image only, no plot spoilers) )

When you see this, post a picture of Cally!

She's so confident! )

Life just doesn't get any better.
Happy SciFi Friday to one and all! I'll actually be missing the first run as I am at work. But my VCR is set and ready to roll!

And a very Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] meyerlemon! May your day be filled with joy, burly men, Ronon, BSG, and diet coke big gulps!
Oh, David Eick, the hilarity! Paul, you need to come stay at my house for a few weeks (especially since you seem to love watching BSG so much...you'd fit right in here).

Okay, so tonight is technically my last overnight...I go in at 6 PM and get off at 6:30 AM on Sunday. BUT, I have to go back in on Sunday from 3 PM to 11:30PM. Can I just say that 11:30 PM on Sunday cannot come fast enough. Two glorious days off, and then a "regular" schedule. 40HOURSOMGYAY! Almost seems like a vacation. I have to work PM shifts Wed-Sat...but I don't even mind. Thanksgiving, meh. It's never been my holiday. But I do love green bean casserole. I might have to make some.

I think I'll go back and see GOF again on Monday or Tuesday...just so there's a little less squeeing and a little more watching.

Am tired...but not ded yet.

ETA: I love "lethargic" because...belly button.
I just read so many BSG second-half spoilers! I literally cannot sit still. Oh, the glee!

(I don't know what "new" spoiler has everyone in an uproar...I can guess...but my glee is not over that)

She's....*glee*

Kara's age

Aug. 14th, 2005 11:15 am
I'm going to stop reading posts about "The Farm" because they (for the most part) make me want to cry.

But I do have a question to put out there. How old do you think Kara is? I've seen lots of 'mid-twenties' posts but...follow me on this one... )
